  • How to negotiate a pay raise

Might even want to talk to your boss about a salary increase, but when you think about saying something, you feel insecure about how to behave, what to say and how to support the idea that you deserve a raise. We know this feeling very well and we know how difficult it is to approach the subject of “salary increase” and, to help you in this delicate moment, we have listed five actions that will help you to better understand where you are and where you want to go: 1. Identify your short and long term goals Do you have a goal of doubling your salary in five years? Ok, no problem, but first you must structure how you intend to do this. Think about how much raises you would need to earn each year to get there and how you need to advance your career if you want to achieve this. Always keep in mind that to achieve a goal, you need to think ahead and plan.

Otherwise this goal will not come to fruition. Assess whether it will take a promotion – or two – to reach your goal and research what the average salary is in the position you intend to occupy in a while. The essential thing here is to be realistic and see if this goal is feasible or if you will need to change jobs or make a career transition, which involves some specializations, courses, etc. 2. Prove that Germany Phone Number List you are a good investment for the company When talking to your boss, you must convince him that you are a professional who will bring many advantages and profits to the company and, therefore, should be rewarded. Of course, you must show this with facts and not words. If you really are a good professional and make a difference in the company, raising this point to your boss will only remind him of what he already knows. You can also get involved in what is most profitable and important for the company.

If for example the company you work for has the objective of increasing the profit of a certain product, take on projects that are considered “key” for the company. When talking about a raise, you'll have more arguments and you can show that you put effort into an important project. You can even say that you achieved an increase in revenue for the area and explain how this happened. 3. Keep improving your knowledge Showing that you are still aware of market news and taking courses to improve the knowledge you already have is a great way to show that you are ready to earn more or be promoted. You don't need to do a postgraduate degree. Often, a quick course taken in a week or the accompaniment of another professional in their daily tasks can bring a lot of knowledge to their career. Tip: look for job openings that match your profile, see what the prerequisites are and try to adapt to all of them.
